Booking Hub heads to Ideas Fest 2026 after the UK StartUp Awards Wales win

Booking Hub is heading to Ideas Fest on 9–10 September 2026, at Champneys Tring, as one of the businesses carrying the UK StartUp Awards through to its national final.
It's a different kind of milestone to the ones we usually write about. Most of what goes on this blog is about the practical end of contractor accommodation — invoicing, block bookings, what goes wrong when a crew turns up to a hotel that can't take vans. This one is about where Booking Hub sits as a business, and why that matters if you're the person responsible for sorting accommodation for your team.
Ideas Fest brings together thousands of business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the UK for two days of talks, networking and — for companies like ours — the chance to stand in front of a national judging panel. Getting there wasn't automatic. It's the result of a regional win earlier this year.

The route to the national final started in Cardiff. Booking Hub won the UK StartUp Awards 2026 Wales regional award, with the regional final held at Tramshed. The category on the night was Hospitality, Tourism and Events — worth stating plainly, because it's not how we'd describe the business ourselves. Booking Hub isn't a hospitality or tourism platform. It's a B2B accommodation coordination service built for construction, engineering and infrastructure companies that need contractor teams housed properly, invoiced correctly, and sorted fast. The award category is the one the competition uses; the work underneath it is entirely B2B.
That work started on site, not in an office. Founder Dion Wright spent 14 years managing contractor teams at Tata Steel's Port Talbot site before starting Booking Hub — booking accommodation, chasing invoices, and dealing with the fallout when a team of eight ended up split across three different hotels with no van parking between them. Ideas Fest is a stage built for entrepreneurs pitching ideas. Booking Hub's pitch is a problem that was lived through first and solved second.

For companies already booking through Booking Hub, nothing about this changes day to day. Bookings, invoicing and support carry on exactly as they do now. What it does add is external validation — a national panel independently confirming what coordinators using the platform already know: that this solves a real, recurring problem in workforce accommodation.
For companies who haven't used Booking Hub yet, it's a reasonable signal to weigh up alongside everything else. A platform that's reached a national final off the back of solving a genuine operational problem, run by someone who managed that exact problem for over a decade, is worth a conversation — even if you're not booking accommodation this week.
If you've got a project starting soon and want to see how block booking or business invoicing works in practice, get in touch with the Booking Hub team and we'll walk you through it.
