Booking Hub named UK StartUp Awards National Winner 2026

Booking Hub has been named UK StartUp Awards National Winner for 2026, taking the Hospitality, Tourism and Events StartUp of the Year title at the National Final, held at Ideas Fest in Champneys Tring on 9–10 September. It's worth stating that category name once, plainly, because it's not how we'd describe the business ourselves — Booking Hub isn't a hospitality or tourism platform, it's a contractor and corporate accommodation UK coordination service. The category is simply the one the competition uses; the recognition underneath it is entirely about solving accommodation for organisations that need it.
The National Final brought together category winners from regional heats right across the UK, judged on the strength of the business itself rather than the size of the stage it was pitched from — a field of finalists that included some genuinely strong startups from other regions and sectors. Booking Hub coming out as National Winner in its category is a result judged against that wider field, not just a regional one.
The UK StartUp Awards' own description of the win captures the breadth of who that actually covers: connecting organisations with fully furnished accommodation through a verified accommodation partner network across the UK, built for contractors, councils, insurance providers and corporate teams. That's a wider list than "contractor accommodation" alone suggests, and it's a fair reflection of where Booking Hub's platform has ended up being used — from construction crews needing weekly block bookings, to councils and insurers placing people during emergencies or relocations, to corporate teams needing accommodation sorted quickly and invoiced properly.

From a regional win at Tramshed to a national title
This win is the second step of a journey that started in Cardiff. Booking Hub won the Wales regional award at the UK StartUp Awards 2026 earlier in the year, with the regional final held at Tramshed. That result was enough to carry Booking Hub through to the National Final, alongside some of the strongest startups from across the UK — reaching the final alone was something to be proud of, and the national win came as a genuine surprise on the day.
Why a steelworks background matters for an accommodation platform
It's a fitting result given where Booking Hub came from. Founder Dion Wright spent 14 years managing contractor teams at Tata Steel's Port Talbot site before building Booking Hub — dealing first-hand with the exact accommodation problems the platform now solves for organisations across the UK: last-minute availability, poor-quality rooms, no single system to track who was staying where, and invoicing that never quite matched what was agreed. That's not a background most South Wales startup success stories share, and it's a large part of why the platform is built the way it is — around what actually goes wrong in practice, not around what a generic accommodation app should look like on paper.
A national recognition like this is an independent confirmation of something coordinators using the platform already know: that it solves a real, recurring problem properly, judged by people with no reason to say so unless the case genuinely stood up.

What this means for companies booking through Booking Hub
Nothing changes about how bookings, invoicing or support work — this is a recognition milestone, not an operational one. What it adds is external validation from a UK-wide panel, on top of the growing list of organisations already relying on Booking Hub's verified accommodation partner network: contractor teams, councils, insurance providers and corporate clients alike.
A trust signal worth weighing up
For companies who haven't used Booking Hub yet, a national win judged against startups from every region and sector is a reasonable signal to factor in alongside everything else — it's independent, it's UK-wide, and it sits on top of a regional win that came first. Combined with a founder background built on actually managing contractor accommodation on site rather than approaching it from the outside, it's the kind of track record that's harder to manufacture than a polished pitch deck alone.
