Contractor Accommodation across Teesside

Contractor Accommodation across Teesside

Teesside has more major industrial construction running at once than almost anywhere else in the UK, and Booking Hub sources accommodation across the area for the contractors, engineering firms and project teams those programmes bring in.

Work spans Redcar, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Billingham, Wilton and Hartlepool, and teams often move between sites rather than staying in one place. We handle that as a single request: tell us your headcount, dates and which sites you are covering, and we come back with a shortlist and one invoice.

An industrial cluster rebuilding itself at scale

An industrial cluster rebuilding itself at scale

Teesside covers the towns along the River Tees, including Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar, Billingham, Thornaby and Hartlepool. It has a long chemical, steel and process industry history, and the area is now the location for several of the largest industrial construction programmes in the country.

Teesworks occupies the former Redcar steelworks site and is the largest development of its kind in the UK. Net Zero Teesside Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership, together forming the East Coast Cluster, are building carbon capture and storage infrastructure there. The consortium working on the onshore power, capture and compression element is led by Technip Energies with Balfour Beatty as construction partner, operating from office space at the Wilton Centre, and Balfour Beatty has said it expects to employ around 1,500 people at peak construction. More than 230 subcontracts have been awarded to UK businesses across the projects.

Alongside that sit Wilton International, one of the country's significant process industry locations, PD Ports and Redcar Bulk Terminal on the river, and offshore wind manufacturing at South Bank. The A19 and A66 connect the towns, which is why a team based in one part of Teesside can usually reach sites across the whole cluster.

East Coast Cluster and carbon capture

East Coast Cluster and carbon capture

Carbon capture and storage construction at Teesworks involves mechanical, electrical, piping and civils work across a long build programme. Demand can come from the main contractors and the wide subcontractor base working under them, often on NAECI terms and extended rotations.

Teesworks development and infrastructure

Teesworks development and infrastructure

The Teesworks site continues to bring forward land remediation, enabling works, quay infrastructure and new occupier construction. The area is often used by civils, groundworks, plant and logistics contractors working across multiple packages.

Wilton International and the process industry

Wilton International and the process industry

Wilton International remains a significant process industry location with its own maintenance and turnaround cycles. Demand can come from mechanical, instrumentation and shutdown teams brought in for defined windows rather than continuous work.

Ports, offshore wind and marine

Ports, offshore wind and marine

PD Ports, Redcar Bulk Terminal and the offshore wind facilities at South Bank support marine, fabrication and logistics activity on the river. Demand can come from installation, inspection and specialist marine engineering teams.

Corporate, public sector and relocation

Corporate, public sector and relocation

The scale of investment brings project managers, engineers and commercial staff into the area on secondment and relocation, alongside NHS and local authority demand. Demand can come from businesses placing people on medium-term arrangements needing proper living space and a workspace.

Frequently asked questions

A few common questions

Here are the answers to the most common questions we’re asked.

Which areas and postcodes across Teesside does Booking Hub cover?

Booking Hub sources accommodation across the whole Teesside area, including Middlesbrough (TS1 to TS8), Redcar, Marske and Saltburn (TS10 to TS12), Eston, South Bank and Grangetown (TS6), Guisborough (TS14), Stockton, Thornaby and Yarm (TS16 to TS21), Billingham (TS22 and TS23), Hartlepool (TS24 to TS27), and Darlington (DL1 to DL3). If your team is covering more than one site, we can place people across several of these areas under one booking.

Can Booking Hub help with contractor accommodation on Teesside?

Yes. Contractor and project team accommodation is the main type of booking we handle across Teesside, covering the East Coast Cluster, Teesworks, Wilton International and the wider industrial sites.

Can you place a team covering several Teesside sites at once?

Yes. Teams here often move between Redcar, Billingham, Wilton and Stockton during a placement. We shortlist properties positioned for the sites you are actually covering rather than tying you to one town, and it stays on a single booking.

Can you accommodate a large team for a shutdown or turnaround?

Yes. Concentrated demand for a defined window is one of the main reasons companies use us on Teesside. Give us your headcount and dates as early as you can and we will place people together where possible, or across nearby properties where it is not.

Can we arrange parking for vans and work vehicles?

Yes. Van and work vehicle parking is confirmed before we shortlist. Tell us how many vehicles you need to park and whether they need to be secure overnight.

Can we get a business invoice with a PO or project reference?

Yes. Every booking is invoiced on business terms with VAT and your purchase order or project reference. Multiple people across multiple properties still come through on one invoice.

Can bookings be extended if a project phase overruns?

Yes. Industrial construction and turnaround work regularly overruns, so extensions are part of how we book. Tell us as early as possible and we will extend in place where the property allows, or move your team somewhere comparable nearby.

Can you place people at short notice?

Yes. Short notice requests are common here, particularly around mobilisations and unplanned work. Send us your dates and headcount and we will come back with what is genuinely available rather than a list you then have to chase.
